He's HERE!!!!!

Announcing the arrival of Hudson Steele Wooten!

Hudson was born this morning at 9:32 and he weighed
6 lbs and 4.8 ounces.

He's so adorable and I absolutely cannot wait to meet him in person.  I have a feeling that I'm going to spoil him rotten.  :)

Midterms-CHECK

I am officially done with my midterms.  Whew...less than half of the semester is left now!  46 days, to be exact.

Projects are becoming due now.

In my sunday school class last week, we had a scavenger hunt.
There were about 4-5 people in a team, junior girls and guys.
So we had to run around to different spots on campus and take pictures and videos of us with certain objects, then email them in.  My team didn't win, but we got some funny pictures out of it.  Oh, we had a good time too.  haha!
One of my friends has a picture of me in one of the clothes dryers, so I'll see if I can find that one...

Well, I just got news this morning that my nephew is on his way!  I'm so excited about being an aunt again.  I'm sure I'll be posting on here as soon as I hear word.

Chick-fil-a Petition

In recent times (this past summer), we've heard more about Chick-fil-a than ever before.  Lately, I have heard more about it than even in the summer during the controversy.

The student members of the College Union Board at Davidson College, in Davidson NC, recently (Sept.18th 2012) voted to disallow Chick-fil-a to serve food in their cafeteria.

This institution is Christian based.
Their college constitution states:

"The Christian tradition to which Davidson remains committed recognizes God as the source of all truth, and believes that Jesus Christ is the revelation of that God, a God bound by no church or creed. The loyalty of the College thus extends beyond the Christian community to the whole of humanity and necessarily includes openness to and respect for the world’s various religious traditions." -http://www3.davidson.edu/cms/documents/About%20Davidson/DavidsonCollegeConstitution.pdf

I think it is so intriguing that Davidson believes so strongly in diversity and tolerance, yet cannot tolerate the fact that the founder of Chick-fil-a believes in something they don't believe in.  What happened to tolerance and equal rights?

I digress...

As a student body, my school has begun signing petitions requesting that Chick-fil-a come to our campus.  By the cheers and screams in chapel when it was announced, I'd say Chick-fil-a got our vote.

Sorry Davidson (and all of the many other colleges who voted similarly): we win, you lose.

Chicken sandwiches and freedom of speech, religion and belief here we come!

Thankfulness

I know it isn't Thanksgiving Day, and I know that there is over a month UNTIL Thanksgiving...but I'm getting into the spirit already.
Recently, I've just been thinking of things that I commonly take for granted which I should be thankful for.

I have a job, and though it isn't an executive position or even something impressive, realizing how many people in this economy are looking for jobs and can't find them makes me all the more thankful for the job that I have.

Recently, I heard the stories of two of my fellow college-mates.  For the one girl, her mother passed away suddenly last year, with no illness or symptoms of an illness.
For the other girl, her parents were missionaries in Mexico and her parents were killed by drug lords and she was forced to watch.
I thought, "My parents are still alive..."
I have so much to be thankful for.

I am in the Nursing Home ministry here at college.
The past three weeks, I have met different elderly people who have told me they were homeless because their families turned them out...
My family's never turned me out.

I am privileged to be able to go to one of the best Bible colleges in the world (I think),

I have two beautiful, healthy nieces and a nephew on the way,

I have 3 meals to eat every day,

I have wonderful friends who encourage and help me,

I have God in my life,
what more could I want?

I know all of this to be true, yet I find myself complaining sometimes...
This post is not so much for the public to read, as much as it is for me to look back on and read when I begin complaining and having a bad attitude.

I have more to be thankful for than anyone else I know.

Dodgers and Observatory

The first week of school, we went on a college activity to a Dodgers game.  We also visited the Observatory in LA.
Of course I took a couple of pictures and then completely forgot to post them on here.

You could see a great view of LA from the Observatory roof.

One of our group pictures.

The Dodgers stadium.

Kelsey, with a view of LA in the background.

Well, that's it for now.  It's hard to believe that midterms are next week!  This semester is flying by and in no time, I'll be home for Christmas.  There are only 63 days left...

Random college...

QUICK!  Before my wifi's gone, I'm going to post a couple of funny college pictures.

Me and Rebekah were being super weird...

This is one of our room pictures.  from the left: Alisha, Kelsey, Miriam and me.

This is what I eat for lunch whenever I can.  It sure doesn't look good, but it's amazing!  Cottage cheese and cheese sauce and lettuce...:)  So healthy.  :D

That's it for now.  Until I happen to be off campus again with my laptop.
tata!

Explanation

I kept wondering why I wasn't able to post on my blog anymore!  I recently discovered that my blog host is blocked on my school wifi.  So, what do I do?  post while waiting until my shift starts at work.

I'm still alive and well, and I'm still at school.  This is what Kelsey and I do in our spare time.

School life is really pretty boring, so there isn't much to say other than I'm sorry I haven't been posting recently.  I've missed my blogging.  :)
