Roommate time...

Last week I decided it was time for a room-date with the roommates.  I borrowed a friends car and took them to Red Robin.  I chose Red Robin since I have a loyalty card there and get a free burger in my birthday month...:D

We had fun...

The other day we decided it was time to decorate for Christmas.
Miriam had the tree and bulbs from last year and we made everything else from scratch.  It was so much more fun than just buying everything from the store.

So we found this odd banquet-time skirt in the free box and cut it up to make a tree skirt out of.
Here I am, sewing it up.

Miriam insisted on making a star out of a plastic bottle.  I think it made our tree look ghetto, but hey, she had fun doing it.  :D

We decorated our door with snowflakes.

This is my first really lame attempt at a snowflake (I'm not the most creative person) :)

This is the skirt that we found.

My second attempt was a lot better.  It actually made it to the door.  :)

And......the finished result.  :)  It's little and kinda lame, but it makes us feel the Christmas spirit.  :)

There are only 11 days left until I go home...now that's hard to believe!

Thanksgiving Break

As with most breaks I've ever had, I find myself with a mile-long list of things to do.  And how many have been done so far? That's right.  None.

Sure, the break only started Wednesday morning at 8:45, but so far, I haven't done a single productive thing.
The school here put on a play, "The Great American Time Machine" Wednesday morning, so I went to that.  Then, I found myself wandering about campus, watching all of the students leaving for the week.  I played ultimate frisbee with a group of friends (that's an accomplishment in and of itself, for me) and then went to lunch with them.
At the moment, I am once again, being unproductive in writing on my blog rather than beginning my list of projects to be completed, or my laundry, which needs to be done.
Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day!  I got up early and exercised with my friend Bekah.  Then we threw some frisbees.  At 12, I went to a church member's house for Thanksgiving.  They have 5 children and had rented a bounce house.  Who ever knew that jumping in a bounce house could cause you to be so sore?
Anyway, I had such a good time and I ate sooooooo much food...particularly broccoli casserole and pumpkin roll.  Shew, it was awesome.

Today, the whole student body (those who didn't go home for the holidays) is invited to the executive Vice presidents house for pizza.  Then I have work: on black friday.  I hate to think of how many mcnuggets I'll be making.  haha!

Happy Thanksgiving and happy shopping to all of you Black Friday shoppers!

Therapeutic Coloring

Wow, this week flew by!  Hard to believe that this week (starting Wednesday) is Thanksgiving break.  There are only 22 days left until Christmas break now.

On Friday night, my dorm had a coloring night.  Weird, huh?  Apparently, coloring is therapeutic though.  So they listened to Christmas music (I plugged my ears since I vowed not to listen to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving...) I didn't really plug my ears...I just don't get into the Christmas spirit until after Thanksgiving.

This is my coloring page.

Well, this is a super short post and it doesn't say very much, but I better go practice my piano lessons.

Until later!

Birthday Celebrations

Well, I had a wonderful 21st birthday.  I feel so old now...

I went over to a church members house on Sunday.  It was so amazing to have a home-cooked meal and sit down at a real kitchen table with a young family.  Being at college and eating SLC food for 2 1/2 months makes you thankful for even just the little things.

This family has 5 children and I had such a fun time jump-roping with them and playing "school" with the little girls.  They insisted on putting stickers on my earrings, so I looked kind of funny after it was all said and done.  Plus my high heel snapped...it's still hanging on by a thread, but they are goners.  Ah well, I wouldn't trade them for the wonderful time that I had.  :)

Leslie's birthday is exactly one week from mine, so we always try to celebrate together.  Since she is going home early for Thanksgiving break though, we celebrated last night, halfway between our two birthdays.  We went to claim jumper and our waitress brought us red velvet cupcakes for our birthdays. YUM.

All I can say, is that I have a wonderful life.  This week is going by very fast for me, and I'm glad for that.  Next Wednesday, our Thanksgiving break begins!  What will I DO with all of my free time????

Happy Birthday Lydia!

Happy Birthday to my sister Lydia!!!!!  Today's the big day.

This is the only picture I have of us when we were little

I love you Lydia and I can't wait to see you in 30 days!

Latest Happenings

Well, last week we had a "snack fest" in my dorm.  Each room provided food and we all just had a hay day.  It was nice...especially the ice cream.  :)

Each room on campus has a T(tender)L(Loving)C(care) mom and mine sent me birthday cupcakes!  :)  I ate 5 of them myself...

Anyway, sorry this is so short, but I have to run off to work now.

Life is good...

Often, I find myself guilty of rushing through life, not enjoying it fully.  This past week has been one that taught me a lesson.  Last week, one of the college students here was in a very serious bike/car related accident.  He's a friend, and someone I was in freshman speech class with.
His life is even now hanging in the balance and the Doctors are asking our school to pray for a miracle.

Too often, I see myself counting down the days, but rarely really making the days count.  I don't think there is anything wrong with counting down the days and being excited about going home for a month...however, when that becomes my main focus and I forget temporarily about the here and the now, it becomes a problem.

My fellow college students' accident last week brought me back to reality.  Life can be extremely short.  We are only here for a little while and instead of hoping all of our days fly by quickly, we should cherish each day and treat each one as if we're not expecting to live past it.

Those were just some of my thoughts for today.  I hope everyone is having a wonderful day! Until next time.
