4th of July

I had a wonderful time on our 4th of July celebration!  We actually couldn't celebrate on the 4th, since I had to go to market, and it fell in the middle of the week.  But we celebrated on the 7th instead.

I made this patriotic cake, which actually turned out decent!  I was happy!  :)

We all went to Katie and Ryan's house and had a nice meal and cookout.

I hung out with the kiddos for awhile :)

We set off a billion sparklers

me, with three of my four siblings.  I don't know where Katie was at...

We went for a boat ride on Katie and Ryan's pond...:)

Annnd, that's about it for now!  :)  I haven't been taking many pictures lately, since I lost my camera's rechargeable batteries :)  I've been burning through the regular AA's like crazy! But no worries, I'll find them soon :)
Until later!

Stuff and nonsense :)

I knew it would come to this point in the summer...my days and nights run together and I find NO time to blog like I would like to.  This morning I had an extra 20 minutes, so I am taking advantage of it and "catching up" on some sorely needed blogging. haha :)

I haven't posted in almost a month!  Well, what has happened since then?  Really, not too much!  Work as usual...in the farming however, a lot has changed.  The strawberries are gone and we've said goodbye to the asparagus. The lettuce is nearly gone, and the spinach is history.  But we've started picking our peaches, apricots, cherries, raspberries, blueberries and summer squashes.  So its' all good. That's on thing I love about farming.  You see strawberries leave, but you aren't just left with nothing...the raspberries and blueberries start up and replace them. So you are never left fruit or berry-less.

Anyway, that's all the farm news...

I've been doing some babysitting recently.  A couple of weeks ago, it was Hudson, just last week it was Abigail and Tabitha.  I'll post pictures of them later.

Hudson already found the unhealthy food...at such a young age!  :D

Our CSA program has been doing well.  Since me and Oliver put them together most days, we try hard to make no mistakes.  So far, this is our 6th week  and only a few mistakes.

This is a picture my dad took of me and Oliver cleaning arugula

We harvested the gooseberries.  Who would ever think it, but gooseberries are a HUGE seller!  They are so rare to come by I guess, that whenever we have them, they are quickly bought.

And my last picture for today...the Elderberries have begun blooming.  We should have a huge harvest of them this year (if the birds don't get to them first) :)

It's exciting to see all of the new things coming our way!  I solemnly promise to do better at writing on here.  I don't like to go a month with no pictures or updates. I write on this blog and post pictures as much for myself as for anybody else.  Someday when I am 70, I'll be able to go back through and read my blog and see the pictures.  Even now, going back and reading my posts from 2008, it's like going back in time :-)

Until later!
