I love my niece

So next week this time I will be frantically packing my bags before my flight (because I know I will procrastinate until the last minute like always).  I'm getting to spend as much time as possible with my niece before I leave.  Tabitha is the only one of my nieces and nephew who is actually old enough to talk and know who I am.  So she came over the other day and helped me to pick blackberries.  I think...she ate more berries than she put in her half pint though. :)

We had a fun time

The other evening at church, I tried to give her a mini-lesson on the organ.  I didn't think she actually picked up on any of what I was saying, but my sister-in-law said that when she got home, she went to the piano and played C, D, E and was saying them aloud.  Whoooo!  A child prodigy!

Anyway, this is short again, but I better get to bed and get some good rest before this week starts :)

Market Stands

I took a few pictures of some of the produce at my market stand in Columbia.

This is the vegetable side.

A couple hulled lima beans

4 varieties of plums

Blueberries, blackberries and red raspberries

Mostly Heirloom tomatoes.

The other day Lydia brought Hudson over...I picked him up and...the fireworks went off.  haha!  He was so mad, and looked so cute, I couldn't help but take a picture with him.

Well, we're coming in on the close of summer...:(
In 1 1/2 weeks I will be back in CA, attempting to get ready for another semester.
I'm sad that I'll be leaving home and my nieces and nephew, but I'm glad because it's my last year and I can see the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel.

I'll be sure to post a couple more times before I head out West.

A Storm's a'brewin!

These pictures were taken last month, but I thought they were pretty cool.  We have a mini forest (really its pretty small) at the back of our 5 acres and when we had a storm about a month ago, it brought down one of our trees.

The whole area looked kind of like a wreck!

This is the tree that was struck by lightning

I was pretty surprised :)

There was one branch that completely penetrated the ground!  It was soo cool.  I could lean on it with all my body weight and it wouldn't budge.  Pretty crazy...

Anyway, this is one of those posts...where I took too many pictures and the "story" really wasn't very interesting!  :)  (Except for the branch that went straight into the ground...that was pretty cool).  Besides this small event, I've been keeping very busy on the farm! Hard to believe that I have less than 2 1/2 weeks until I head back to college! This summer has been flying by!  And, it's my last summer as a college student pursuing my bachelors degree!  So...in theses next few weeks, I will attempt to keep this blog up-to-par with my life. :)  Until next time!

Fun at work

Who ever said you can't have fun while you're working?

Digging potatoes by hand is by no means "fun" work, but digging potatoes with fun people makes it fun.

I took this picture before we started the long haul...

We found a worm that was huge!!! So, being the kind sister that I am, I put it on Oliver's neck.  After he got over the initial shock, he thought it felt really funny, so we all had some fun laughing at him.

Customers regularly ask us "So how do we know if this corn is good, before we buy it?"

This SHOULD be the answer....when Demi steals ears and eats them, you KNOW it's good corn!

She's such a goofy dog...

Short post, I know...I will post again shortly :)
