Taking the Next Step!

An important event occurred in my life this year and I forgot to post about it.  On May 3rd, 2017, I was able to graduate from West Coast Baptist College with my masters degree in music.  I was really excited about that because I had been working on it for three years.

I finished my thesis project just one week before graduation, and that was a HUGE relief.

Dan and I flew to California on Tuesday and arrived just in time to attend the special dinner that was prepared for the graduates and their families.

This picture is of five of the music masters students.  The four of us on the left were graduating.

Wednesday Morning, Dan took this picture of me as I was driving to the college to find out whether I received honor cords or not.

Annnnd...it turned out that YES, I got honor cords, as did all of the other music masters students!  There is only one music masters student missing from this group picture.  This was right before we processed in to the ceremony.

After the ceremony, I took a picture with one of my teachers from my undergrad years.

It was a memorable time.  I'm so glad that I got my masters degree!  I really didn't question whether or not I should pursue my masters degree at all.  I knew that when I finished my bachelors degree, I wanted to continue learning.

And I'm glad that I did.  I was able to learn so much more; particularly about vocal techniques and directing choral groups.

Poppy Season in Lancaster!

Well, the CA poppy festival was this past weekend. In honor of California's state flower, I went to the poppy reserve. Unfortunately, there actually weren't very many poppies out. I think they bloomed earlier than normal this year.

I was with Dan, and he saw a man with a camera walking up one of the paths. Dan yelled out "Hey, do you want to take a picture of us?" And the man turned around...wouldn't you know it...he was a reporter! He said that yes, he would love to take a picture of us. So here we are, in the Los Angeles Times, posing for a picture.

I was sooooo embarrassed at first, but now looking back, it was fun to get in the paper haha.
I'm sorry I haven't posted much lately. My laptop completely died on me, so I have been forced to use my iPad. And while I love taking pictures with it, it is hard to upload them to my blog. So I shall attempt to do better these next week with pictures and posts! Until later!

Lancaster desert finds

Welcome to Lancaster, CA!  Where the wind blows, and also where people dump their couches...and everything else.
I am such a strange person, I enjoyed exploring the middle of the desert and finding a random abandoned couch and taking pictures of it.
We found a lot of bones. While I was convinced they were human bones, my friends insisted they were from a rabbit or prairie dog.

This was a random huge pile of glass...

Lots of bones!!

Anyway, it was fun! :) I enjoy doing crazy things like exploring the desert.
My next post will be with pictures of my visit to the ghost town of Calico, CA :)
